2017 Theme and Keynote Speaker

Paralympic Snowboarder Nicole Roundy to be Keynote Speaker at 2017 Kansas Young Professional Summit in Wichita

Eight-time World Cup Medalist Nicole Roundy will be the keynote speaker at the 2017 Kansas YP Summit on May 5 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Wichita.

This year’s Summit will focus on the theme “Ad Astra,” inspiring attendees to look to the stars, setting lofty goals in their personal, professional, and community roles. Roundy will share her story of overcoming challenges to accomplish goals that others deemed impossible.

“YPW is ecstatic to again host the Kansas YP Summit in 2017, and Nicole Roundy will be an integral component to the program,” said Jamil Malone, 2017 YP Summit Event Planning Chair. “Her story of becoming the first person to compete in adaptive snowboarding is inspiring.”

Roundy represented the United States in the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games and is an eight-time World Cup Medalist in adaptive snowboarding. She is also an accomplished motivational speaker, holds a degree in business management, and is an advocate for The Challenged Athletes Foundation, The National Ability Center, and childhood cancer research.

This year’s statewide summit is hosted by Young Professionals of Wichita, which won the bid to host the 2016 and 2017 Kansas YP Summits. A volunteer group along with staff is leading the event planning initiative. Roundy is the first of many speakers that will be announced. We are currently accepting proposals from individuals and organizations who have a talk or development session to share with Kansas YPs related to the theme of “Ad Astra.”
