Yes, it seems like a lot for your employer to give you an entire day to attend this summit, but you may be surprised at their level of support. Start the conversation early, especially if you have a forgetful boss.
2. Don’t be afraid of rejection
We’ve all been turned down for something at some point in our lives. Whether it was asking for a date, not getting the job you wanted, or that pony you begged for on your fifth birthday, we’ve all heard the word “no.” The good news is – you’ve got experience in dealing with rejection! If you ask your employer to allow you to attend the summit as part of your work time, what’s the worst thing they can say… no?
3. Show the big man/woman what’s in it for them
If your boss is the kind that drives a hard bargain, prove to them that it’s in the best interest of the company that you attend. Networking is one of the best things a businessperson can do to raise their company’s profile throughout the state.
